JAINITUOS TRAILER REVIEWS – IT: CHAPTER 2 thoughts

Hey guys, I am bvack, after days of not writing an entry on my blog. I am so excited. But now, I am going to do something different.

Well… The title is self-explanatory. And yes… I saw the whole… darn trailer of IT – CHAPTER 2.

First and foremost, I need to tell you, my friends, that I watched the trailer once again. And I loved it even more. In fact, I could watch this amazing trailer for hours. Wanna know why? Because I adore IT – CHAPTER ONE. That was one of the few movies that I saw in cinemas that scared the hell out of me. It was nothing like the 1990s miniseries, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise. Not even the iconic roar of the shower scene scared me.

Creepy, yet silly and not that scary.

But Bill Skarsgard was the real deal. And the amazing direction of Andy Muschietti showed us one of the most iconic monsters created by Stephen King at its best. Since then, I was hyped by IT – CHAPTER TWO, especially after reading the news and watching the shots of the principal photography where you could see the adult versions of Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy), Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain), Richie Tozer (Bill Hader), Ben Hanscom (Jay Ryan), Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa), Eddie Kaspbrak (James Ransone), and Stan Uris (Andy Bean).

IT – CHAPTER ONE has a lot of iconic scenes and some of the best jumpscares I have ever seen in movies. I recognise that analysing all of them in this review will not be possible, especially since I will go of the topic; but the movie itself really got the atmosphere of Derry and the feeling of horror, uneasiness, vulnerability, despair, sadness and anxiety produced by some of Stephen King’s best novels (Pet Sematary, The Dark Tower, Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, Gerald’s Game, Misery, etc.), and the nostalgia of the 80’s in Derry. (Something that you can find in Stranger Things as well, one of my new favourites shows from Netflix).

You could say that I was practically dreaming with the trailer of IT – CHAPTER TWO.

With that said, let’s talk about the trailer.

IT – CHAPTER TWO (SPOILER WARNING)

The trailer stars with Beverly Marsh, played by Jessica Chastain, returning to her old house in Derry, after 27 years, where she is greeted by the actual owner, Mrs. Kersh, whose voice sounds really odd. Beverly stated that she used to leave in the house, the next shot presents young Beverly.

Mrs. Kersh invites Beverly to see the house; she finds the letter that Ben gave to her afterwards;

«Your hair is winter fire / January embers / My heart burns here too.»

While Beverly reads the postcard, Mrs. Kersh starts acting weird. And after a «casual» conversation about how it feels to live in Derry, and a very «interesting» smile from Mrs. Kersh, the latter tells Beverly that her father worked in the circus. Sadly, curiosity betrays Beverly as she immediately notices a photo that clearly says…

«THE GREAT PENNYWISE, THE DANCING CLOWN»

As well as Mrs. Kersh’s father, who looks very similar to Bill Skarsgard, and a naked Mrs. Kersh, which reminded the naked lady from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

Finally the truth of Mrs. Kersh is revealed with these simple words: Are you still his little girl, Beverly? in reference to Beverly’s abusive father. Mrs. Kersh/Pennywise attacks Beverly. And the trailer finished with a mix of the young and adult versions of the Losers’ Club, as well as the re-enactment of the iconic meeting at the Chinese restaurant, a terrified Richie, Bill reviving the memories of the tragic death of Georgie, a terrified Mike, and what seems to be the final battle.

The trailer ends with Pennywise «greeting» a new victim saying… «Hello.» and a sample of his famous laugh.

MY THOUGHTS

The trailer was just three minutes, but it definitely left an amazing impression of what to expect on IT – CHAPTER TWO, a great conclusion of one of the best adaptations of the novels of Stephen King, and one of my personal favourites, along with Carrie, Misery and The Shining. IT – CHAPTER ONE was an amazing movie, and I learn a lot from the story from Stephen King. And since the 1990 miniseries has its doses of violence, I expected IT – CHAPTER ONE to be more hardcore. And indeed I was not wrong.

Now, one of my questions for IT – CHAPTER TWO is… What would Maturin look like? How they will do the Ritual of Chüd? Ok. No need to ask this, but definitely I am hyped that these elements will have at least one mention.

CONCLUSION

To sum up, I really enjoyed the trailer of IT – CHAPTER TWO, and rest assured that I will be the one of the first ones to buy my ticket when the movie is released. Until then, I will joyfully embraced the sweet memories of one of the greatest horror movies of the 2010s.

Also… How come I am still not afraid of clowns?
