ANOTHER FIVE OF MY FAVOURITE COUPLES IN ANIME (VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL)

Hello my friends.

Welcome to another entry of my blog.

As I promised, I took my time to find another five couples that I really love, and that warms my heart and my soul every time I thinking about them. And as part of the month of Valentine’s Day, I will share with you all of them, and why I really love them.

Hope you like them, and again… Happy Valentine’s Day.

Now, here they come

5. RENTON AND EUREKA THURSTON (EUREKA SEVEN)

I swear to all of you that the very day I read about Eureka Seven, I was all but bored; that was by 2005; by that time, I was watching Fullmetal Alchemist, one of my favourite anime of all time, and I loved everything, especially the animation. And due to similar animation, I got my heart put in Eureka Seven.

And I love it. There are so many fantastic elements, but the one that really hooked me was the relationship of Eureka and Renton as a couple.

Renton started as a simple, but impetuous teenager, and Eureka as a cold, emotionless girl with no understanding of human emotions; but as the story unfolds, our two protagonists evolve and mature, and they form a couple that, from the start, is extremely heartwarming; the resolve of Eureka and Renton to pilot Nirvash and become one, along with their mutual caring, gives soul to a story that is already full of backstory and good characters. Renton grows to be a brave young man, and Eureka becomes a beautiful young lady, and along with awkwardness, their love story is one worth checking out, especially if you want to something to share as a couple.

Again. Better to see than to describe.

4. NASA & TSUKASA (TONIKAKU KAWAII)

Being in a relationship is one of the most beautiful experiences in life. Nonetheless, I am also aware that there is a point in which is very challenging to live with someone else, especially after getting married.

And I think Nasa & Tsukasa Yuzaki, from Tonikaku Kawaii represents that. After meeting in the craziest circumstances, Nasa meets a really beautiful girl, called Tsukasa, falling in love with her. Tsukasa accepts his confession on one condition – Nasa must marry her, which he gleefully accepts. And after three years, Tsukasa meets Nasa again with a marriage form, formalising the union afterwards.

Now. A part of me thinks that circumstances Nasa and Tsukasa meet are insane, and I would lie if I say that I am an obsessed fan with Tonikaku Kawaii, but I will repeat what I said about Nasa and Tsukasa when I voted for them as Best Couple in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards – Both are authentic, their relationship is genuine, and both Nasa and Tsukasa help each other to improve as individuals.

Without mentioning that they are adorable every time they are together. (Ah!!! Young love!!!)

3. MIYUKI SHIROGANE AND KAGUYA SHINOMIYA (KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR)

Good Grief!!

A part of me thinks living in couple is a constant battlefield, fighting for keeping the love of your partner, but not let him/her take advantage of you, having a balance for yourself and for your partner, keeping a poker face for the sake of the relationship (You know what I mean), ending any disagreement in good terms, or at least with an armistice.

Ok. Perhaps I am exaggerating.

Or perhaps not, because that is the soul of many romantic comedies. But Kaguya-sama: Love is War takes that premise in a creative, semi-innovative way, with each moment being more hilarious than the last one; nothing is boring and you like the episodes so much that times flies in a blink. And that’s why is so pleasant to watch Miyuki and Kaguya, they are trying to force the other to confess, yes, but even you can tell that they are having fun most of the life, and so are we.

But, when the story is serious, Kaguya and Miyuki steal the show, and giving us really poignant moments. For these reasons, I adore them.

With them, I am not even close to war.

2. YUU KOITO AND TOUKO NANAMI (BLOOM INTO YOU)

Of course, I cannot forget about LGBT love. Yuri love.

Where do I start with these two? Yuu is a quiet, reserved girl, very studious, but also very conflicted on how relationships work (just like me), while Touko is more laid-back, playful, but extremely full of layers. And in the story of Bloom Into You, their relationship slowly develop in the most organic way, first as friends, then as partners in the Student Council, with Yuu avoiding Touko’s forceful advances, and then as a couple, with both have a decent development.

None of their moments feels boring or forceful. Of course, they could advance a bit faster, but that is the purpose of the story – Show two girls falling in love, and living life. And after reading the ending, I can tell that Touko and Yuu is a couple that makes my heart fluffy and warm.

Just one favour.

Please, give us an anime of the spin-off of Sayaka Saeki. Thank you.

  1. EMMA AND WILLIAM JONES (EMMA – A VICTORIAN ROMANCE)

This is definitely one of the best love stories of all manga and anime. Trust me, Emma and William have the chemistry of Nasa and Tsukasa, the development of Renton and Eureka and, in my opinion, the same sensitivity and care you will read in a book from Jane Austin. For starters, Victorian Era had a great sense of romance; of course, they were nasty times, but Emma – A Victorian Romance portrays those with the aesthetic and attention to detail only anime brings.

Emma is a young, beautiful maid living in the 1895 London, working for Kelly Stownar. One day, Emma meets William Jones, member of a middle class family who is desperate to marry William to a woman, member of the gentry, and former student of Mrs. Stownar. From that day, Emma and William Fall in love, but because of class distinction, their love would be considered forbidden, something that troubles Emma deeply. Furthermore, William must look after the business of his family.

But, at the end, love prevails.

The story of Emma and William can be described with one word – heartwarming. It has tragedy, but it has happiness; it has hardships, but it has opportunity. It does not come shy in depicting some of the worst problems of Victorian England, but somehow manages to bring us hope. And the protagonists are some of the most sincere, natural and realistic characters in romance in general, not just anime.

If you love romance. Emma – A Victorian Romance is definitely the anime for you.

CONCLUSION

There you go. Another five beautiful couples in anime and manga.

And now, since I believe I finished Valentine’s Day season with flying colours, there is something we all came here to see.

MORE CHIKA.

And of course… the third greatest characters voiced by Konomi Kohara… and my new waifu…

MONA MEGISTUS

MY BEST WAIFUS OF 2020 – PART II

Hello my friends.

As many of you already know, yesterday I released my blog, showing five of the best waifus of 2020; the ones that made this complicated year more bearable, especially during the second half. And even though I will barely miss 2020, that does not mean he should overlook the positive stuff.

Especially in anime of 2020.

Having said that, since there are more than five waifus that became great characters in my book, there must be a second part of these «2020 series». And… I can’t truly leave 2020 behind without doing these entries.

And this time. I got SEVEN WAIFUS.

But first, let’s go with the honourable mentions.

ALL THE GIRLS – MONSTER GIRL DOCTOR

I don’t know you guys, but for me, Monster Girl Doctor is probably one of the most underrated series of 2020. It has a decent story, solid setting, nice animation, and of course, likeable characters.

All of them have their own personalities, and when you think some of them will be for just one episode… they come back, and add to the story pretty well. Add extra points to Skadi Dragenfelt, and her cuteness and design.

Also, because Monster Girl Doctor help me to forget the awkwardness I suffer from Monster Musume, whose plot is ridiculous, and makes me feel kind of dirty. Instead, Monster Giril Doctor makes more sense, and the waifus are more subtle toward their feelings.

KANA – LEVIATHAN

For those who are thinking I am breaking my own rule… I am not. I said waifus, but I never said exclusively from anime. From that perspective, Manhwa also counts. I have read many, mostly romance and erotic, but in terms of heroines, Kana from Leviathan is one of the best. Being an orphan in a dystopic world and having a very close relationship with our main protagonists, Lita and Bota, Kana acts like a sister figure, especially after some tragic events. This element, along with her gorgeous beauty, is one of her many achievements.

RUKA SARASHINA – RENT-A-GIRLFRIEND

I know. Right? Rent-A-Girlfriend has become one of the best romantic comedies of 2020. But it is not just the «chemistry» between Kazuya and Chizuru, it is also some of the characters that became as popular as Chizuru herself. (I will talk about her later.) Having said that, I admit that I developed a «crush» toward Ruka. How can that be? Her beauty, her personality, her moments with Kazuya, and many other things from Ruka. And… in a way, I root for her as much as I root for Chizuru.

Okay, and now… let’s get the Waifus.

TSUKASA YUZAKI – TONIKAWA – OVER THE MOON FOR YOU.

Pretty much like Rent-A-Girlfriend, Tonikaku was a sleeper hit for me; I am still watching the first season, but I love it, and that, of course, includes the female lead. Tsukasa.

During a really snowy night, student Nasa Yuzaki is preparing for his entrance exam, when he suddenly meets Tsukasa, a beautiful, calm and cool girl he falls in love with. Immediately Tsukasa saves him from a truck. Nasa proceeds to confess his love and Tsukasa accepts it on one condition – He must marry her, something that Nasa immediately accepts.

Definitely Tsukasa is everything in a waifu, and every time she is with Nasa, they look so… kawaii. Also, Tsukasa proves to be such an interesting character, and of course the voice of reason.

What else can I say? Behind a great man, there is a great woman.

CATARINA CLAES – MY NEXT LIFE AS A VILLAIN

Oh my!! My beautiful Catarina! How can I forget you?

Catarina Claes starts as a spoiled girl, having servants doing her will and getting everything she wants, until one day she gets hit really bad in her head; after the hIt, she remembers that she had a previous life as a high school student whose favourite visual novel was Fortune Lover; and she reincarnated in that same world. But there is a little problem… She reincarnated as the main antagonist. And as such, Catarina has two possible endings, exile or death.

Since then, Catarina changes and does everything to revert her outcome, learning farm magic and being nice to everyone.

Ok. I have never ever played Fortune Lover (Well… Duh), but now I can see that this Catarina, by openly reverting her destiny, caught my admiration, because she genuinely loves everyone, her brother, her fiancee, her friends, and does the right thing, and with such a passion to the point of being contagious. It reminded Deadpool from Deadpool 2, and his poignant resolve to protect Russell. It is so heartwarming. And how can you forget the five Catarinas of her mind?

All I can say is… Long Live Bakarina!!!

HANA UZAKI – UZAKI-CHAN WANT TO HANG OUT

I should call Uzaki-chan «the meme of 2020» because this girl is just everywhere on the Internet, and it hasn’t pass one day since I didn’t see her on YouTube or anime websites.

Hana Uzaki is a small college student, whose life changes when she discovers that her beloved senpai, Shinichi Sakurai, is attending the same school as her. But then she discovers that Shinichi has also changed into a loner, so she decides to having a «fun lifestyle» with him; unbeknownst to Uzaki, she stalks and pesters Shinichi, much to his annoyance. From there a lot of wacky situations between both characters take place.

First and foremost, I haven’t seen too much of Uzaki-chan Wa Asobitai!, and that’s why I haven’t mentioned her too much. But due to her presence and wacky expressions, she made a lasting impression on me. And not just her… attributes (which can easily beat Hestia’s from Danmachi). And that is why she earns a spot on my list.

Let’s hang out.

NOI – DOROHEDORO

Indeed. There is no complete 2020 waifu list without Noi.

A cleaner for En’s organization, and the partner of Shin. Noi is one of the most powerful Magic user from the world of Dorohedoro. Her magic allows her to heal everyone, but another great attribute of her is her superhuman strength, which is more than enough to give hard time to both Caiman and Nikaido.

From the get-go, Noi has revealed to have a very nice personality, so carefree and so loyal to Shin, and that, combined with her powers, made her extremely popular toward fans. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter if she wears her casual clothes, a tie, a «gangster suit», all leather, or even if she gathers her hair. Noi is really unique, and her likeable personality makes her waifu material, as well as a worthy competitor for both Nikaido and Ebisu.

ECHIDNA – RE:ZERO SEASON 2

Speaking. of leaving an everlasting impression, we all simply wanted to see what kind of surprises season 2 of Re:Zero will leave to us. Having said that, I can stop thinking about Echidna as the biggest WOW!! from Subaru’s further bizarre adventures.

The Witch of Greed, Echidna is the only one who knows about all the pain and suffering Subaru has gone through; she claims to adore to discard as many souls as she desires, yet, somehow Subaru finds her really intriguing, and so do I.

In less than 12 episodes, Echidna, with her beauty, her powers, her personality, and her mystery has made her as popular as Rem and Emilia from my perspective. She is an antagonist, but you can’t help but feel attracted to her, in a way very few characters can achieve. But that’s just my impression.

Anyway, I really like Echidna. But it is a shame that I can’t drink her special tea, and the… secret ingredient.

CHIZURU MIZUHARA – RENT-A-GIRLFRIEND

Remember what I said about Ruka from Rent-A-Girlfriend? Well… here is the rest.

To be honest, I don’t even know how to start here, because there are. so many great things I can say about Chizuru. First and foremost, she is voiced by Sora Amamiya.

When college student Kazuya Kinoshita is dumped by his girlfriend of one month, he uses an online app for renting girlfriends. And the lucky selected is Chizuru Mizuhara, who acts very sweet and lovely with Kazuya, of course this is all a facade, she being a complete tsundere, and trashing Kazuya for giving her a bad rating.

Despite this, Chizuru sticks with Kazuya and helps him to recover from his recent breakup. Yep. Definitely Chizuru has get our hearts. One can’t simply deny how charming and strong-willed she is, and of course, beautiful. And now since a second season of Rent-A-Girlfriend is in production, I am looking forward to see more of her.

I definitely rate Chizuru 10/10 – pure charm.

Now. The next entry might be controversial, for many will expect me to put Chizuru as number one. But no. There is one more waifu that made my 2020, and it will not be fair for me to leave her behind. I just can’t. If you want to, you can just leave the list until here.

Now, having said that, my top waifu of 2020 is…

SAKURA MATOU – FATE STAY NIGHT: HEAVEN’S FEEL III – SPRING SONG.

Yes. People. Here we go again.

After three long years of bing two fantastic Fate Stay Night – Heaven’s Feel movies, we finally see the third and last part. And for those who read my review of Heaven’s Feel III, you will know that I adore Sakura Matou, because her struggles and trials are harder, more gruesome, than anything that happened to both Saber and Rin Tohsaka. And Sakura is very aware of the Holy Grail War, yet, she wants no part of it.

From the moment she was adopted into the Matou family, her life is worse than death, especially thanks to the bastard fo Shinji Matou. And yet, she has such a determination, and such a resilience, it is admirable; but, unlike Rin and Saber, her dignity is stripped beyond words, especially in the carnal part (FCUK SHINJI).

And finally, when the Shadow finally takes control of her, a part of Sakura really want to protect Shirou from danger, and her jealously toward Rin is something we can actually relate to her.

But despite all of this, Sakura’s humanity remains intact, and, let’s admit it, Shirou was influenced to Sakura’s presence from the beginning, even in the Fate and Unlimited Blade Works routes, Sakura manages to her mark in the franchise, and kudos to Ufotable. They gave Heaven’s Feel the best ending.

For this, and more, Sakura is my top waifu of 2020.

CONCLUSION

Phew!!!

What a great time!!! There is no doubt that I truly met very wonderful characters on 2020, and just like 2019, the anime industry got very good series and moments. Let’s hope that 2021 has good surprises in anime as well.

Only time, and obedience for protocols, will tell.

And don’t worry guys. I am planning to do a third part, as well as a special entry of «anti-waifus». Stay tuned.

One thing is for sure. I have a special place form Rem and Ram. Isn’t it that awesome, Ram?
